Since 1997, Mr. Liguori has been Treasurer and House Counsel of Cherenzia & Associates, Ltd. and the related Cherenzia Companies.

He is a graduate of The Columbus School of Law, The Catholic University of America (1977) (Class rank 13/162) and University of Rhode Island (1974) With Distinction. He is admitted to practice in Rhode Island (1977), the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island (1977), United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit (1979) and as Authorized House Counsel in the State of Connecticut (2008).

Mr. Liguori is a frequent author and lecturer on issues in his practice areas of Land Use, Environmental and Municipal Law, including:

Mr. Liguori has represented individuals and entities before municipal, legislative and judicial bodies, as well as regulatory and environmental agencies. Representative successful judicial appellate cases include Town of Westerly v. Waldo, 524 A2d 1117 (RI, 1987); (Municipal Zoning Ordinance may not regulate condominium form of ownership) and Gayla A. Savage, et al v. Zoning Board of Review; Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., et al, WC 2000-0258, Decision, May 14, 2002, Gagnon, J. cert. denied, No. 02-386 MP, RI Supreme Court, December 12, 2002. (Addition of a supermarket use [a permitted use in the zoning district] to an existing retail store which was non-conforming by dimension does not constitute the expansion of a nonconformance.)

For ten years Mr. Liguori was also Town Solicitor for the Town of Hopkinton, Rhode Island, including the period of 1990 to 1996, during which it adopted its Comprehensive Plan and a new Zoning Ordinance. He has also served as a member of the Town of Westerly Comprehensive Plan Citizens Advisory Committee, 1989 to 1995 and 2005 to present and as Chairman of the Town of Westerly Zoning Ordinance Review Committee, 1995 – 1999.

With respect to land-use and related issues Mr. Liguori has also served as pro bono legal counsel to numerous charitable and religious organizations including: Ocean Community YMCA, Westerly Adult Day Services, Inc., Stand-Up for Animals, St. Pius X School, St. Clare’s Church and Sisters of St. Joseph.

Sergio has been working as a Project Engineer for Cherenzia since 2005 and has been recently promoted to Project Manager. He received the degree of Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 2004 and is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Rhode Island. Sergio’s main project focus areas are stormwater management, drainage analysis and site design on projects ranging in size from small to large residential subdivisions to large commercial development. In addition to design work and handling project management and coordination, Sergio has also been working towards a Masters of Environmental Science and Management at the University of Rhode Island.

Since joining the Cherenzia Companies in 1989, Nate Lauder has been responsible for managing the survey department for Cherenzia & Associates, Ltd. He holds Professional Land Surveyor’s licenses in Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Colorado. Nate has completed many projects involving boundary, subdivision, mapping and survey related plans. He has provided expert testimony in court cases and presented many projects before regulatory boards and commissions. With over twenty years of experience and specific knowledge of the Westerly area, he is an asset to the survey and design work for any local project.

Heather has been with the Cherenzia Companies since 1995. Starting as the receptionist, she was promoted to A/R Manager for Cherenzia & Associates, Ltd. within two years and quickly added the responsibilities of Executive/Personal Assistant to the President as well as A/P Manager. In addition to her everyday responsibilities, she works closely with the HR Manager helping to resolve benefit issues and also with the CFO and COO overseeing day-to-day financial operations of the company.
